All the photographs in my web page are SOOC (straight out of camera).
I don't use filters, flash, or editing software.
My photography focuses on organic patterns and vivid colors and is done using a 70mm
macro lens. I dive into the objects to uncover how they are made inside. The photos are
x-rays of items from the farmer's market like peppers or tomatoes, or flowers, that expose
their internal structure and color patterns. The variations are dramatic and endless and
show the beauty and complexity of the familiar products seen in a different way.
In my paintings, I use bright colors and simple forms to create complex compositions.
Each painting is done using 10 to 20 panels of plexiglass designed separately and then
stacked to create a type of multilayer stained plexiglass window. The photographs are backlit
by sunlight and are SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera). Each photograph shows a set of panels
sequenced uniquely at the moment in the day when the Sunlight intensity and angle produce
the best colors. The paintings are three dimensional and their colors change as the Sun changes.
The photographs freeze the painting at an ideal moment.
